HEADS UP
POWER FROM THE PEOPLE!
It is strange how things become very clear during the most
mundane transactions. Things that people have said for years
suddenly have new and profound meaning. You just start putting
things together. In a flash you get a whole new and exciting view
of possibilities that, just seconds before, were beyond your
understanding of the of the world. Suddenly things are no longer
what they once were. Understanding has the power to change the world forever.
It happened to me when I was ordering shirts through a mail
order catalog. I told the customer service person the size, color &
style I wanted and the page number that I found the shirts on.
This is pretty routine so far. Then she asked me a question that, I
now realize, was the the beginning of a series of seemingly
unrelated events that changed my understanding of the world.
How could something be so simple yet be so profound? It's been
there all along and I never saw it or understood the meaning. I
know when you have finished reading this you will say, "Of
course! Why didn't I see it? It was right there in front of me."
The customer service person asked me if I wanted the shirts to be regular fit or
tapered. I answered "tapered."
A week or so later the shirts were delivered. The color and size
were right but the shirts didn't fit. For some odd reason they
tapered the shirts the wrong way! I was puzzled as to why a shirt
manufacture would taper a shirt to form a "V" when the vast
majority of men in America are shaped like a pyramid.
The lovely and talented Judy, my wife, companion, protector and
advisor, for these many years, pointed out I would not have to
send the shirts back if I changed my shape to a "V". As a matter
of fact, as coincidence would have it, she had just bought a book
that explained how, through a plan of diet and exercise, one could accomplish
just that. Judy could not be persuaded that learning to walk on my hands would
be an easier way to turn the pyramid into the "V".
So. ..with good humor, a cup of coffee and a piece of pie, I
tackled the job of reading the book. My first flash of understanding came before
I got the first two chapters read. I
missed it at first. I read right passed it. Then I said, "wait a
minute"! I read it again. It said, "fat is stored energy." I knew
that all along but all of a sudden I grasped the significance of the
information.
We are like batteries. The fat in our bodies is just sitting there
waiting to be called on in case of an emergency. Imagine for just
a moment that you had to run all the way to the store for some
SNICKERS but you had no fat in your body. The chances are,
within a few blocks you will have burned up all your calories.
With no stored energy (fat) in your body you would probably
expire. All that muscle, bone and hair that everyone is so proud
of, wouldn't do you a bit of good without energy stored in fat.
Those of us who have the good fortune to have the classic
pyramid shape, have lots of stored energy. A shape that some
people may consider unbecoming , conceals 750 amps of cold
cranking POWER!
Here is good news, anybody can be fat! Of course for some
unfortunate people who tend to have body types that are mostly
muscle and bone, there will be some training involved. It's taken
me many years to achieve my current physique. Don't think you
can just give up all that grain and green veggies and start eating
cheese cake, blueberry pie, bacon and eggs and red meat, cold
turkey. Your body might go into shock! So be sure you check
with your doctor before attempting any major life style change.
I know there are some of you saying, "O.K. fat is stored energy.
How is that fact going to change the world as we know it?" Here
is your answer. For years scientist have been trying to develop a
battery (stored energy) that would run an automobile down the
highway at speeds of 65 to 75 mph for 8 to 10 hours without
recharging. I think they are overlooking the obvious. They need
only look between their collar and belt Find the answer. Just
harness the stored energy in the fat in the magnificent human
body. The technology is already in place. Have you ever seen the
TV adds where they wrap a person who has lots of stored energy
in a special cloth containing some secret ingredients which
literally bums off fat?
Now, take that same idea but instead of wasting valuable stored
energy, use it to drive the wheels of a car! Envision a day, in the
not too distant future, getting up in the morning, eating a dozen
eggs, half a pound of bacon, a bagel with cream cheese and jelly,
and nice piece of pie or cheese cake. Then you slip on your
"stored energy utilization jacket" (SEUJ). You climb into your
"fat burning car" (FBC). You plug in the wire that hangs from
your SEUJ into the socket of your FBC and you drive to work.
On the way you encounter a long steep grade. You feel your FBC
start to slow down. You reach under the seat and pull out a bag
of chocolate chip cookies. You feel the power return as you eat
the cookies. The FBC glides effortlessly over the crest of the hill.
You arrive at work down to 4% body fat but unconcerned
because you know someone has stopped for doughnuts on the
way in.
You're not just a fat person anymore. You are a natural resource.
Think of it. No pollution. No dependence on foreign energy. No
trade deficit. Life is sweet!
Well, better grab some of those doughnuts. You will have to
store enough energy to power your computer when you plug it
into your (FBOC) "fat burning office chair".
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? IT'S SPRINKLER
TIME AGAIN
We've been installing lawn sprinkler systems for 28 years now. No matter how
hard we work, every year we find there are more people without systems than the
year before. We are hoping this year we will catch up a little. My plan is to
start early and work late.
Often we can start installing in February and work through November into to
December. You might find there are some special incentives during those months.
My guess is that you already know all the wonderful reasons for having your
landscape watered automatically, like having an emerald green lawn without
becoming a lawn slave. You can save water, save money and save time.
Come on! You know you want (gotta have) one this year. The only question is who
are going to buy from. As you might have guessed, I have some thoughts on
that matter.

Last year, Shirley's doctor told her she had walking pneumonia. I told her not

have really scared her because she started coming in even earlier then before. I
said, "Shirley, you
misunderstood the doctor. You have walking pneumonia, not working pneumonia. Go
home."
She wouldn't hear of it. She is one dedicated person. If you call my office
Shirley will help you in the most friendly and professional way.
If you call one of my customers and ask, "what about Felix?" The answer will be,
"he's fabulous." I get notes from people all the time saying, "Felix is
fabulous."
One day last fall, Felix was working on very full day of service calls. He
pulled up to one address on his list and saw the lady had fallen in the
driveway. She was calling for help but none of her neighbors could hear her
calls. Felix rushed over to her, covered her with his coat and called 911. Then
he stayed with her until
the EMT's got there and got her into the ambulance.
When I called her to see how she was, what do think she said?
"Felix is fabulous! I was never so happy to see that truck with the LUKE'S
SPRINKLERS & LANDSCAPING sign on it pull up to my house."
How can anybody compete with that. It makes me feel a little sorry for the
competition.
Even the lovely and talented Judy, my wife and loyal supporter for these many
years, says Felix may be the best man ever born.
Truly, a person could not have a better friend than Felix Corona. He has been

quality parts are used. When you make an appointment with us for a sprinkler
bid, we will draw your property to scale. We will custom design a sprinkler
system on that drawing. We will show you the layout of the sprinklers and the
coverage you will get. We also show you the parts we use, give you some
literature) answer any questions you may have
and give you a written proposal.

Drainage problem?
Who you gonna call? Luke's Sprinklers & Landscaping? Yeah! We do drainage jobs
as well.
So, if you have problems with water in the basement or wetness in the crawl
space, give us a call. Better yet, call us before the water gets into the
basement if you suspect you may have a potential problem. Look for areas around
the foundation where the dirt has settled and now is sloped toward the house.
LUKE ALERT
Be aware that inadequate winter watering will void your plant and sod warranty.
Winter water your plants and lawn ASAP. Although we have gotten lots of snow in
the mountains, it has been really dry and windy in the Denver metro area.
Winters like this can damage or kill plants that don't get supplemental
watering. Even established
landscapes with deep roots need water during dry winters. Landscapes which were
planted in the last 2 years or so are particularly vulnerable.
GIVE "FAP" A CHANCE
We are beginning our 12th year of FAP (fertilization and aeration program).
Three years ago we began offering REVIVE. REVIVE really helps make better uses
of the water which is applied to the lawn. I want to thank the people who have
called or written to tell us how pleased they were with the results of this
program.
I'm using the same program on my lawn so I can monitor the results. I am very
pleased to say my observations are the same as our customers.
Even with the drought conditions we have had in the last few years, people who
have ordered REVIVE with FAP are telling me that they had the best lawn on the
block.
It works because we are triple teaming the problem. We aerate twice a year to
reduce thatch. Thatch harbors insects & disease and keeps water from getting to
the roots.
We use is 100% organic fertilizer. Organic fertilizers improve the soils water
holding capacity while turning the lawn a very dark green. Organics contain
micro nutrients and macro nutrients. Chemical fertilizers contain only macro
nutrients and do not improve the soil.
REVIVE reduces the surface tension of the water. This allows water to penetrate
tightly compacted soils. Give this program a try. I'm sure you will be
delighted.
