| The most important part of caring for your sprinkler system is protecting it from freeze damage. In Colorado we frequently have overnight freezing temperatures in the early fall AND in the early spring... even though the daytime weather remains warm and dry. ANYTIME the forecast calls for temperatures 32 degrees or less you should protect your vacuum breaker from freezing. Here is how to turn off the water to the sprinkler system :
